  • Sept 15 - 22/23

Tour Details

Senegal is a country located on the western side of Africa, bordering the Atlantic Ocean. It surrounds the Gambia except in the Atlantic Ocean. Dakar is Senegal’s capital city and acts as a port city too.

This West African nation is emerging as a fresh alternative to the more frequented tourist hotspots. What sets Senegal apart is its blend of unspoiled landscapes and a less crowded tourist experience.
Senegal is a more authentic and intimate encounter with African culture and nature. It’s this untapped potential and the chance to explore without the crowds that make Senegal an increasingly appealing destination!
Your time in Senegal will undoubtedly be a lot of fun, as there is a lot that awaits you. The official language for Senegal people is French, and you should polish up on some French before embarking on a journey to the country.

Weather:

Senegal has a tropical climate that is both hot and humid for much of the year. The climate in Senegal divides the year into two principal parts: The dry season is from November to May with temperatures around 25°C, from June to October the rainy season controls the weather, it continues longer in the South than in the North.

The month of June is generally wetter. Temperatures can reach 30°C during the wet season. It is more pleasant to visit Senegal during the wet season, and if possible before February, as temperatures are still warm, but the rainy season can also provide some beautiful moments with the flowering blossoms and the constant presence of the birds.

The rainy season, from May to November, has strong southeast winds while the dry season from December to April is dominated by the hot, but dry, harmattan wind. Lowlands are seasonally flooded and there are periodic droughts.

Currency:

The local currency is the West African CFA Franc (XOF).

You can change US dollars and euros at commercial banks and exchange bureaus.

Yellow fever is common. Get vaccinated before you travel.
Medical facilities in Senegal are limited, especially outside Dakar. You may need to pay cash up-front, even in an emergency. If you’re seriously ill or injured, you’ll need medical evacuation. Ensure your travel insurance covers this.
Several hospitals and clinics in Dakar can treat major and minor injuries and illnesses; however, medical facilities outside Dakar are extremely limited and unprepared to handle major injuries.

For emergency services in Senegal, dial 800-881-881 (Toll Free/Numero Vert) for SAMU.

The following diseases are present:
