Overnight at your Hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel.
We start the day with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque — a remarkable architectural achievement and a spiritual landmark for modern Oman, projecting the values and aspirations of the Omani people.
After the visit, we continue exploring the city. We visit the famous Royal Opera House of Muscat, then drive through the scenic Corniche, stop at Muttrah — the main port & commercial centre — and explore the colourful historic souk with its winding alleys selling textiles, jewellery, traditional Omani perfumes (bukhoor – frankincense), souvenirs and antiques.
We then visit Old Muscat, surrounded by steep mountains and flanked by twin 16th-century forts ‘Jalali’ & ‘Mirani’, and see the Al Alam Palace. We proceed to Bait Al Zubair Museum, itself a part of Muscat heritage.
Return to hotel. Overnight in Muscat.
After breakfast, we leave Muscat.
First stop at the famous Bimah Sinkhole, a part of a collapsed mountain filled with seawater. Then proceed to Wadi Shab: a breathtaking view, spectacular entrance, natural pools and terraces dotted with plantations make this one of the most beautiful places in the Sultanate. 45 minutes walking through the deep gorge leads to the emerald water pools — ideal for a swim.
Continuing along the coastal road through high cliffs and small fishing villages, we reach Ras Al Hadd for our overnight stay.
Dinner at hotel. At night, we visit the turtle reserve with the possibility of watching the turtles laying their eggs.
Overnight in Ras Al Hadd.
After breakfast, depart to visit the sea-faring town Sur — a trading port bustling with activity. Famed for the fascinating architecture of its old town and shipyards where traditional dhows have been built for centuries. Drive through Al Ayjah village and make a photo stop at the lighthouse.
Then depart to Wadi Bani Khalid — a lush green valley surrounded by rugged mountains. Enjoy incredible views and a chance to capture the scenic beauty.
Continue to Wahiba — one of the most fascinating regions of Oman. The vast, ever-shifting dunes support an astonishing variety of wildlife and host different kinds of flora and fauna. Home to Bedouins who have inhabited this inhospitable region for at least 7,000 years.
On arrival at the campsite, guests are welcomed by Bedouins with Omani coffee, fresh dates and mineral water. Evening dune bashing and sunset watching from the dune tops. Back to camp.
Dinner & Overnight at the Desert camp, Wahiba.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning, we depart to visit the Nizwa Souq — among the largest of its kind in Oman. A wide variety of vendors offer fish, meat, vegetables, pottery, jewellery, handicrafts, and souvenirs in authentic old market halls.
Next to the Souq is Nizwa Fortress — a museum today offering splendid views of this ancient town and surrounding mountains. An architectural testimony to the economic and military achievements of the early Yaruba dynasty from the mid-17th century.
We move on to Bahla, famous for its handmade pottery, with a photo stop at Bahla Fort. Then we visit the famous Jabreen Castle — perhaps the finest of Omani castles, with dungeons, passages, rooms and ceilings decorated with fine carvings & paintings.
Dinner & Overnight in Nizwa.
After breakfast, proceed to Jabal Shams with a photo stop at Wadi Ghul. Continue to Jabal Shams — ‘The Mountain of the Sun’ — one of the highest peaks in the region. The road rises over 2,000 metres with incredible views of mountains and rugged landscape.
Continue to the village of Al Hamra — one of the oldest preserved villages in Oman, built on a tilted rock slab and noted for its extraordinary ancient mud houses. We visit Bait Al Safa, one of the oldest restored houses transformed into a lively museum.
Dinner & Overnight at the hotel in Nizwa.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depart to visit Birkat Al Mouz Village, then journey up to the Saiq Plateau — Jebel Akhdar, ‘Green Mountain’ — accessible for centuries only by donkey. Experience the soaring peaks, plunging canyons and a fresh climate 15 degrees cooler than below. Visit villages of Saiq, Wadi Bani Habib & Al Ain.
Evening transfer to Muscat International Airport.
